My theory is that people wouldn't bother unless they loved Babble. I wonder if maybe the ex-pats, and maybe some others, would like to see it freed from the rule of Robert Hsiung. My guess, and it's just a guess, is that they have felt personally hurt by his attempts to administrate.

That's all pure speculation, based on extrapolation.

But it's hard for me to imagine that people would invest such large amounts of time and energy if they weren't passionate about the place. But that's just me. I imagine there could be other reasons for passion.

For me, if Babble were ever freed from the rule of Robert Hsiung, it wouldn't be Babble anymore. For better (I think) or worse (as others might think), Dr. Bob and his methods of administrating and his ideas of what is and isn't allowable on the board is a big part of making Babble culture what it is.

As to whether anyone would rather see Babble gone completely if it didn't conform to their vision of how it could or should be, I have no real basis for having an opinion. Many people have come and gone in Babble over its seven year history. It would be surprising if one or two didn't feel that way, given the wide range of possible human behavior. I'm not saying it's anyone who is currently posting on the board.

One thing I'm relatively certain of is that there is no way to force Robert Hsiung to turn over Babble to whomever some people wish him to turn it over to. But he may get to the point where he wishes to close it. I'd have gotten there many admin boards ago, so I admire his backbone. I also trust that Dr. Bob can do a pretty darn good job of taking care of himself. That would pretty much have to be a part of his character, considering, wouldn't it?

I rather suspect I'm going to regret writing this. And I want to make clear that I mean no disrespect for anyone.
