Try not to see them as unable to empathize or wanting to be upset. Maybe they hate rabbits and, since the picture is ambiguous, they don't want to take any chances? As Gabbix said:

If more were thriving, wouldn't that be even better? Maybe some are less active now because their topics aren't relevant to many posters?
