I guess I am on the side of all potty mouths of the world.
I am a cusser. I cuss a lot. I am a foul mouthed person. Many find that offensive, but do not shun me for it.
This thread reminds me of my high school drama teacher whom I adored. We were not able to use any foul language in his plays, nor anything remotely close to it. "Darn" was too close to, "d*mn", so we weren't alowed to use it. We had to change it to "oh brother" or "golly gee" (I think he watched a lot of LEave it to Beaver reruns). We couldn't use "shoot", because it was too close to "sh*t" and so on and so forth. I guess I agree with henrietta's post, in that, why is it okay to replace a letter in the word when we all know what the intended word was? How is that helping in civility? I think we should either allow the words or not allow them at all. It just seems very hypocritical to pretend that @ss is better that the actual word.
