If you haven't cleared your temporary internet files cache lately, your computer can bog right down on those.

Select Tools/Internet Options/General tab. Half way down is Temporary Internet Files....select Delete Files, and a little box opens. Tick the 'Delete all offline content' box, and select OK. If you haven't done this in a while, be prepared. It can take a while. Then defrag.
