I have to agree. It looks to me like Chemist was trying to keep his cool under attack. I think he was being literal and not sarcastic; we're familiar with his writing style. I don't agree with the block.

Isn't it equally likely that he was doing his best to be civil under trying circumstances with no administrative assistance, and the awkwardness of trying to stick to the precise rules of the civility guidelines merely came across as sarcasm to you?
