Question about starting thread and sending message

Hello- I was wondering why when I try to send messages to the board I get a box that comes up and asks what user name I would like to use, of course all the user names on the list are my own, but if I click on one it brings up the SUBJECT heading of a post I have made in the past. I have to hit cancel if I want to send a message on a different subject. Is this supposd to happen or is there a way I can make it stop?
