How frequently do you really feel hamstrung here with any post that doesn't involve a "lou related" issue? I think the Lou firestorms have carried us to absurd limits of semantic gymnastics, which are pretty dizzying to me. I think these discussions have stripped people of reason and certainly of patience. Even though the conversations about what is civil or supportive are purportedly aimed at working out generic guidelines, they really are all about how we can respond to Lou, IMO. If you take all of these ridiculous threads out of the equation, this can really be a very congenial and affirming place - by no means controversy-free, but without the same sustained overtones of anger and frustration. It's probably unfortunate that you came onto the Board when you did and got caught up in a Lou firestorm as quickly as you did. I continue to hold out some hope that the Board will eventually get back to a place for at least a time, where the most active Board isn't the Admin Board.
I think you've made some real contributions since you arrived.
