I took a mild dose of magic mushrooms three years ago and found it to to highly beneficial for my 20 plus years of treatment resistent depression. It was the most beneficial med for depression I have taken to date. I tried quite a few meds over the years, if you care to research previous posts. Or just take my word for it that I suffered. My theory is that psilocybin helps disrupt or break-up the neural pathways that became "grooved" with my depression and allows new neural connections to spread. That is my conjecture.
Please keep in mind this is all my opinion. I do not think the unpleasant inebriation or "trip" has anything to do with the positive effect. It was not a soul changing transformative experience or insight. I think is that it was the subsequent chemical reset that helped lift my depression. As my shrink at the time said, it seemed to "knock the rust off." So these days I have begun to grow mushrooms myself, as buying it from "a guy" is both illegal and unnevring. I certainly wish there were a pharmaceutical standardized source for psilocybin. I do not like the high very much but I think the anti depressant effect that lasts for several months afterwards in my case is undeniable. I look forward to a day soon when psilocybin will be standardized, accepted and understood as a medication for depression. I would love to hear about other peoples recent experiences with psilocybin.
