Premenopausal women who suffer from depresson are much more likely to have low levels of estradiol than premenopausal women who aren't depressed. The depressed women's microbiome was found to degrade estradiol far more quickly than the microbiome of women who weren't depressed. Perhaps premenopausal women who are depressed would be especially good candidates for fecal transplant, or for the FDA-approved fecal drug Rebyota.
