The whole paper is found in the link below. As far as I can tell, they looked at 5 patients. That's not enough to draw any conclusions, really.
I would think if this was a major side-effect, it would show up in the clinical trials or as a symptom in the hundreds of thousands of people who take this drug. These end up as "black box" warnings on the drug monograph - there's no such warning for memantine
There's a lot of poor-quality papers published. Looks like the authors from this are from Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, a university founded in 1993 and ranks #779 according to US News.
