I have no clinical evidence to cite, but take into consideration that venlafaxine (Effexor) is extensively metabolized into desvenlafaxine (Pristiq) in the body. When venlafaxine and desvenlafaxine blood levels reach equalibrium, the blood level of desvenlafaxine is substantially higher than that of venlafaxine. So, both drugs yield desvenlafaxine in the blood stream.Personally, I found venlafaxine to be more energizing than desvenlafaxine. Venlafaxine 300 mg/day has produced a mild improvement in deperession on a consistent basis. However, Pristique 100 mg/day did not produce any improvement at all.

Some see things as they are and ask why.
I dream of things that never were and ask why not.The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
