Everyone is sensitive to cold water. It is plausible. They used to do that with athletes. You hear of Bulgarian Weightlifters etc who were thrown into ice baths or ponds or whatever by their coaches or parents or whatever to get them up in the morning... Reduces inflammation.

Athletes (therefore people) can adapt quite well to working in the cold... There are compensations the body can do. But not so well to working in the heat. Your proteins de-nature. End story.

Cold adaptation. Yeah. What doesn't kill ya makes ya stronger. It does hurt. That's the point. Think... Concretization.

Pain. Therefore no need to beat yourself up anymore.

Orthopedics for the win. Sometimes. Cold water. Sure. But it has to be really really really really mind-numbingly painfully cold.
