I guess I am concerned more with my benzo use. (Which is only occasionally)..but I have to take higher doses than prescribed, because over 30 years, I have developed tolerance. Rxlist.com suggests that doses as high as 4mg a day may be needed. I am prescribed 3mg a day, and will save them up to take 6mg in one shot, along with Inderal, if I am having a rough day. This IS NOT abuse..I don't take them for recreational purposes, but as part of my BP2/GAD diagnosis.
But, since greatly reducing my Effexor/antidepressant use, my memory has much improved. I think AD's are much more detrimental to good cognitive functioning. As a BP2'er, ad's, at high doses, even medium, impair my memory, cognition, and temperament. Combined with ad's, benzos greatly impair my memory. Lower my ad, and I better tolerate benzos. I think there may be a secret to very low dose ad's. I remember a time when I was on imipramine, at 10-20mg's and I did great! But, the doctor kept pushing for higher doses.
Anyhow, I am a bit afraid to take those tests for either Lewis Body or Alzheimer's disease/dementia.

I was brought up to believe..
Belief that's failed me now
As Life goes from bad to worse
No philosophy consoles me
In a clockwork universe..........
