I have not taken ketamine (my depression, while frequently relapsing, is not completely unresponsive to other agents). However, I personally know a few people for whom it has been remarkably effective.
I convinced a friend to try ketamine before ECT. Not only did it work, but has kept him well for over a year. He takes it every month or so.
It's worth a shot for a few reasons:
1) if it works it will make you feel better FAST
2) you won't have to deal with weeks of side effects to see an effect
3) many patients need no other meds between doses. If it doesn't work, you're really in no worse shape.
You might consider scopolamine too. You can get it OTC (here in Canada) as a treatment for nausea and it can be combined with nardil, no problem.
I bought some agmatine (which, purportedly has ketamine like antidepressant effects). I swear by it and have occasionally used it in combination with scopolamine.
