Hi, I just joined, so Im new here. Ive been having trouble finding psychiatrists in the state of Massachusetts who would be willing to prescribe me a MAOI. Is there anyone who can help me out here? Im desperate.
Ive been dealing with social anxiety (and subsequent depression) for around 10 years now and it was only last year when I started to get help. Ive taken Prozac, Wellbutrin, and Lexapro during the last year and a half and although theyve helped by about 40%, Im still struggling a lot. I do go to a weekly support group for social anxiety, but surprise, I find myself too anxious to be honest about my problems.
I just want to find effective treatment and be able to do basic things like go outside, be seen, and connect with people without being anxious. No matter how often Ive exposed myself to these situations, the baseline level of anxiety wont go away or if it does get better, I start to become anxious about another type of social situation. I was a happy kid (who was albeit a bit shy), but I just remember that my social anxiety started developing in middle school without any real causes and its been one of the only constant things in my life since then.
Being high functioning is surreal a lot of the times because although I was able to graduate college and work an office job, I also havent left my house beyond the porch for the past 3-4 months since COVID started because Ive been too anxious. I just dont want to be miserable anymore and feel like Im an outsider whos falling behind everyone and has to hide who they are. If anyone could give me advice, Id really appreciate it and thanks for listening to my incoherent ramblings haha
