You cannot extrapolate your experience to other people in general. I'm sure there are those who find diazepam recreational.

Clonazapam did not treat mania for me, if anything it made me more impulsive. It also was not good for sleep, but that is unsurprising because I was manic.

For sleep, I prefer midazolam (Dormicum). It's short-acting, so it doesn't make you tired the following day. I tried oxazepam and temazepam for sleep, but they were not good for this purpose. I also used zopiclone and zolpidem for sleep; the zolpidem worked all right at the time, but the zopiclone was useless.

No benzo has ever been recreational for me.
