i don't know, all i know is both meds are serotonin reptake inhibitors, i can't give a scientific awnser, but definetly had increased serotonin levels in the synpase. Effexor is a good antidepressant, usall in higher doses. Lower doses seem to work more on serotonin, then after higher doses like 150+ is when it bumbs norepinephrine levels up
