Hey Everyone!
PeterMartin brought up a great point about the CEQUEL trial (https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanpsy/article/PIIS2215-0366(15)00450-2/fulltext). It noted bipolar patients who received a folic acid supplement appeared to reverse the antidepressant effect of Lamictal.
I have notice over the pass few years if I eat to many vegetables, I feel depressed the next day. When I saw this study, I wondered if the folate in the vegetables reversed Lamictal's antidepressant effect. I actually emailed some of the psychiatrists in the CEQUEL trial and asked a few psychiatrists about this. They felt that it was the folic acid in OTC vitamins that cause the reversal of Lamictal, not folate found in foods. They said they had not seen an patients who ate lots of vegatables have there Lamictal antidepressant effect reversed.
Has anyone noticed folic acid, B complex or multivitamin (all with folic acid) reversed their Lamictal? Anyone noticed vegetables reverse their Lamictal? Thanks everyone!
