Here's an update on my parnate trial. I have to try to log my experience so I can relay it to my doctor. Dx includes depression, general anxiety, and social anxiety.
Been on 30 mg for a little over 2 weeks. Before that I was on 20 mg and before that 10 mg for several weeks total.
The first two weeks on 30 followed the same trend I had with each dose introduction. I felt improved on multiple symptoms of depression. Mainly my mood was nice, neutral to even slightly good. My energy and desire to do things increased. This was amazing to me. It was not a high but rather a state of euthymia as best I can imagine it exists. I still experienced negative emotions in reponse to appropriate things. But I felt human. This mood increase in turn lowered my general anxiety slightly and increased my confidence. My social anxiety never really decreased although I felt a greater desire to interact with others which helped a little. That was my first two weeks on 30 mg parnate.
The past few days I have returned to my previous very depressed and anxious state. I wonder if my improvements were from the often discussed amphetamine-like effects experienced initially after parnate dose increases that is not to be confused with its long term milder antidepressant effect.
Because social anxiety is my main mental health issue and probably leads to my depression and anxiety I will talk to my doctor about switching to Nardil or increasing my parnate dose. There's a study that indicated 60mg was better for SA than 30mg.
Side effects for me include
Constant increased heart rate
Occasional insomnia
That's all
