tolerance to maois - peter kramer

Posted by rose45 on April 23, 2019, at 9:17:45

Peter Kramer, in his book 'listening to Prozac' writes on page 305:

Tolerance has been widely reported with maois and tolarance to maois is a difficult, disturbing phenomenon. Patients who become tolerant to maois often suffer a quite vicious deteriorating course, one that does not respond to other medication treatment.'

This is what has happened to me , first with nardil and now with parnate, and Im in a really bad state and noone seems able to help.

any views ?

I dont know if some people develop more tolerance to drugs, but surely this may make maois quite dangerous to take. Ken Gillman does not mention this business of tolerance , so may not have had experience of it with his patients, but it is a very real thing.

All feedback appreciated
