My current regimen was Risperdal 4mg with Trihexyphenidyl 2mg at night with Sodium Valproate 500mg-bid. I went on it till I phased out off the horrors of Aripiprazole exacerbating impulse dyscontrol. Now Risperdal never quite fully helped the rage attacks & hyper-irritability part of my disorder.
Since few days I've been taking Buspirone 10mg-bid, which is experimented in cases by Pacific Neuroscience Institutes to help in irritability aggression due to it's 5-ht1a actions. And the change in my irritability and rage problems is dramatic. I was rediagnosed by a big institute doctor as childhood onset bipolar with OCPD with a differential of IED some time back. To me I'm just bipolar plus. Plus being my rage attacks. However, I've some qualms with the current medicines. The TD from Risperidone is completely unacceptable to me and it just 10-20% more effective than the other drugs I have taken. Since I have been slapped with SUD also and keep retrialling drugs none of them will respect patient preference or try anything else. What they don't know is it has never helped and i keep getting severe DMX states, theonly thing it helps is it feels my mind opens up in terms of social isolation.
i feel now the only option is to try now is again Quetiapine XR at a doseof 400mg max with Valproate and buspirone as is. Quetiapine was prescribed and possibly a drug doctors won't have a problem with.
I want to know what might be the effect of combining Quetiapine with Buspirone, might Quetiapine make worse the benefits of Buspirone as atthis dose I'm not quite sure what interaction they might have at te 5-ht1a and DRD2 receptors. Can one make a guess or is it just something trialling and seeing becase before when I had been taking Quetiapine when there was no buspar involved it seemed to make my irritability and rage deteriorate. I've had a similar worseningon Olanzapine, a doctor-favourite drug apparently.
also, does anyone know about magnesium valproate as an alternative to sodium valproate? how might it benefit inthe brain for bipolar illness specifically. i want to makee switch for better stomach health also.
thanks.
