I love Berberine! I've been taking it for 3-4 years. I take 2 capsules three times a day of a product called Phyto-Biotic, made by Enzymatic Therapy. I buy it online. It has 200mg from the Barberry plant, 200mg from Oregon grape Root plant, and 50mg from Goldenseal, in each capsule.
I honestly don't know all the things Berberine is doing in my body because it does so much. I know it helps control blood sugar, it is anti fungal, antibacterial, anti inflammation, anti-constipation, pro-digestion, pro-immune, all sorts of stuff. The greatest benefit I get from it is in terms of mood. I mean, it isn't a miracle cure or anything like that, but it is a crucial component of any cocktail, whether herbs or meds or both.
When I try supplements I let the bottle run out and don't re-order. If I can feel in a few days the difference of not having that supplement, then I will reorder it. Berberine is one of those I can tell big time when I'm not on it. Mood goes down, anxiety goes up, constipation happens, everything just goes a bit sour. Back on Berberine and things go smooth again.
I don't think it is a stand-alone therapy and I would not suggest that. But I think it is one of the best components of a cocktail anyone could have.
I would not be afraid to mix it with MAOI, though I would do so starting with tiny doses. For example, if it were me, using the Phyto-Biotic product, which is a total of 450mg each capsule, I would probably dump a capsule out and take maybe 50-ish milligrams and add in another 25mg on top of that the next day, and so on, and just keep the radar up with a sense of caution. I would plan on eventually getting up to full dosage but I would want to take weeks getting there in small steps so that if anything started to go wrong I would have some elbow room to work with and not be overly committed. I think that is being overly cautious with Berberine, but that is how I would do it if it were me. Because nobody really knows.
> Berberine is a bit of a darling in the supplement world although it isn't talked about all the much. I'm a little fearful of trying it because I know it'd be technically contradicted w/ Nardil which I'm taking :(

> Linkadge and Bleauberry I put you guys in the title since I know you're still active and I saw you're names in one of the only threads I could find on the forum about Berberine. It seems like no one ever updated how their trials turned out though.
