i've been taking them less than 1 month...3 weeks or so, I guess. its worth noting that -when- antidepressants do the job for me, they do it quickly. celexa, wellbutrin...both gave me desired results in less than 1 month. true story.
I also do a more standard Orthomolecular protocol. 12 grams time release vitamin c, b-100 tablets, 1200 IU natural form E, etc. I've been doing that (or some version of it) for about 8 years now, give or take a bit. and so...
with the psych drug situation taken care of and the Orthomolecular protocol in place, maybe that's why the fish oil is working and working so quickly?
I take the Vitacost brand, btw. I see some brands that are somewhat cheaper, but Vitacost ships quickly to where I live and they seem to have good prices, usually.
What I like about the "high dose" fish oil (actually...from reading a bit on it, I'm taking -just enough- for major psych indications...) is that its hitting problems that would have required 2+ psych drugs to deal with...lack of energy, agitation. ruminating thoughts, distractibility. so...
this is awesome, for me! I still may end up on a drug for depression, I think, not because the fish oil is letting me down, but because I responded well to Wellbutrin in the past and I think the fish oil might help me get more mileage out of it.
ok. I do hope this helps someone, out there. I would like to add...fish oil can lower vitamin E levels, so if one is not taking a vitamin E supplement (many "experts" recommend natural form, btw), that might be something to consider.
