All I know is that after reaching remission with antibiotics following 20 years of failed psych meds and even failed ECT, you have to keep an open mind to unproven strategies. With that in mind, none of the drugs we currently take are proven to reach remission. As a matter of fact, most of them don't come anywhere close to remission.

So the best thing any long-suffering patient can do is open their mind to new things. Because it is obvious the older more-popular more-trusted more-practiced things are often disappointing.

I believe depression is primarily caused by unseen chronic low level infection and/or inflammation, with toxicity issues intertwined.

I can envision in my imagination how lasers might be able to disrupt, turn off, or kill low level infections in the brain, and how they might help improve inflammation. I cannot see in my imagination how a reuptake inhibitor of any kind could do any of that...though they are sometimes helpful for short-term acute situations, and sometimes (rare) provide remission for long periods of time.

I think the most important ingredient to reach remission is.....an open mind.
