After about 14 days of hell (quitting Lexapro cold turkey), I will be starting Nardil tomorrow and I'm pretty nervous about it. The dietary restrictions seem to be a little inconvenient, but manageable. And when Nardil seems to work, it really works well. My worries come in because what if this not the medication for me? Switching between SSRIs was always miserable but, to have to come off Lexapro and only rely on Klonopin was terrifying. I'm not sure I could stop Nardil for an extended period of time to back on an SSRI. (And my instincts tell me that after 25+ years on many, many SSRIs they're not going to do the trick anymore. So maybe switching to something else like Parnate wouldn't be so bad. (That's assuming the Nardil works.
I've read mostly negative experiences about Nardil Mostly it's issues with weight gain, and I"m going to try and combat that with a low carb diet and lots of exercise. (Assuming I have energy for that. Since stopping Lexapro I've been sleeping 12 hours each day, and I don't feel well.)
I also have a third part question. Has anyone done inpatient treatment to have professionals help with your medication management? I keep toying with the idea, but it sounds expensive and I'd have to miss a lot of work.I can't do that if I won't see positive results.
Anyway, more than anything, I could use some encouragement about starting Nardil tomorrow. Thank you!
