hi. its a sedating, mid-potency 'atypical' tranquilizer. zyprexa does the same thing as the old drugs, thorazine or haldol, but without the same level of drug-induced problems, such as muscle stiffness, twitches, causing or exacerbating depression, etc.
its combined with prozac in symbyax, which helps a lot of people. by itself, zyprexa doesn't work as an antidepressant for many people, but combined with prozac, there's less agitation, more response, etc.
