**RANT WARNING**
It is a great shame that LSD has become almost tabu for research. I wrote to a doctor (Dr. MacLean, Vancouver, BC) in the 70s who was using LSD to treat chronic alcoholism; I asked about his "experimental" program. He replied that it was no longer experimental, but solidly established as effective. Yet afaik it was shut down years ago.LSD is not the only drug to suffer this fate. Amineptine was hounded off the market, in part by pressure from the DEA & other US agencies. Dextromethorphan has often been suggested as an antidepressant, but even though it is OTC research has been slow. Ketamine shows even more promise, but again its association with recreational use & abuse has tainted it by association. There are many more examples.
The "war on drugs" has claimed many victims, as wars tend to do; among them people like me with treatment-resistant MDD, whose SSRI has "pooped out".
