I've posted to 2 other threads, 1 discussing side-effects vs efficacy of AD's in general, and one focussing on Celexa/Citalopram vs Lexapro/Escitalopram. There was a lot of sharing of and discussion of research, and some general discussion and hypotheses about these and other AD's.
However, I'd be interested in hearing from more people about their own personal experiences specifically with Celexa - especially side effects details, but also efficacy, and timing for both.
I've read a number of articles/reports claiming Celexa tends to have fewer and/or milder side effects than most AD's, but I'd like to hear more first hand experiences. I am hypersensitive, and those reports of fewer side-effects guided me towards trying Celexa.
I know Lexapro is the newer, modified version of this drug, and was promoted by the (same) manufacturer as being more effective (and some of the research explains why this might be so, although others postulate that the new drug was at least partly driven by the fact that the patent on Celexa, created by same Drug company, was running out).
Lexapro may indeed be more effective, but as I am hypersensitive, that could equate to more side-effects like "activation syndrome" (a problem I've experienced with other AD attempts). Which is why I decided to try Celexa instead (my own Doctor didn't feel there was much difference between the 2).
Thanks for sharing!
