Hi all,
I haven't been to this board in years but it really helped me out in about 2005-ish. I know there are some knowledgeable people here regarding medications, particularly Scott, if you're reading this.
Anyways, I've been on Effexor on a couple different occasions in the past. It's the only medication that ever really worked for me - at about 225mg. However, it always eventually poops out.
After the last poop out, I went to Prozac, against my personal recommendation to the doctor (the SSRI's that I tried in the past didn't work). Despite my protest, I was put on Prozac and predictably, it didn't work.
So after getting a different doctor and being off of Effexor for a while, we decided to try Pristiq. I got up to 100 mg and it only helped marginally. I felt that if 225 mg of Effexor worked in the past, I might as well try it again.
She told me to stop the 100 mg of Pristiq and go to 75 mg of Effexor. I feel that's too low. I know there's no direct dose conversion from Pristiq to Effexor, but my guess is that 100 mg of Pristiq would be closer to 150 mg of Effexor.
Today, I didn't take Pristiq and went directly to 150 mg of Effexor. It's too early to tell what the outcome will be, as it's only been a few hours.
I know this will just come down to trial and error, but I'm just so sensitive to everything right now and I can't afford any hiccups as I'm already having suicidal ideation and I have GAD and a strong tendency towards anxiety when changing/ discontinuing medications.
I know there's no easy answer here. Maybe I'm just looking for some reassurance. So I'm just looking to see if maybe anybody has had any experience with this or has any recommendations.
