Yes, very common in Somalia and in the Somalian community here in Sweden too.
It is chewed (big amounts) for a long period of time, like 12 hours, and hold against the "inner side of the cheek" like a ball to absorbe in the mucous membrane.The designer drugs today are synthetic chatinones often.
Bupoprion are a synthetic chatinone, as are methylphenidate in some ways (semi).
And many more medicines that I can't think of right now.
So they're all derivates from Khat in a sense. :-)
