...are people still diagnosed w/ schizoaffective? I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia for a while, now the diagnosis is Bipolar I w/ recurrent psychotic depression or something like that.I dunno. I don't know why I even care about diagnosis--my current treatment works well--but...I wonder...
is Schizoaffective a midway point between Bipolar and Schizophrenia? Is it even a valid diagnosis?
Sometimes, I think social class plays a big role in my diagnosis. When my people were considered more middle-middle class, the pros were all about ODD, NPD, ADD, blah blah blah. Now, they're more "genteel" and solidly behind me, and by some kinda DSM magic, I'm "Bipolar I" of some persuasion. I'm wondering...if they were still middle-middle class, if I was on my own, etc...would it just be "schizophrenia" ?
Can't complain too much. My treatments (1200/Trileptal, 100/Lamictal, 400/Wellbutrin, 30/Abilify) work well for me. I don't know if changing to a schizoaffective diagnosis would have any impact on treatment. I just wonder, that's all...
Thanks.
