I took abilify for three or four months to augment Celexa and Lamictal. The start up was extremely wiggy and trippy. If I took in the morning I felt scared and stoned. Taken at night, it was tough to sleep.
I'd say it helped with social anxiety and worry but:
-it certainly washed me out in the company of others
-I was more impulsive with smoking, drinking, etc.
-Again, sleep was tough.
-I couldn't exercise w/out getting tired and bored. It was like what I imagine a high dose of beta blockers might do.
-Coming off it left me with the worst depression I can remember. Now I am off the antidepressant 2-3 months and just taking Lamictal. I was enjoying the feeling of stillness but now I've lost interest in all my hobbies, career growth, and social interacting. Social anxiety has come back. I honestly think the Lamictal is making things worse but that's a separate thread.
I'm needing something for depression/anxiety/rumination/apathy and we are trying to keep me off SSRI for fear of cyclothymia/BPII.
Latuda spaced me out a low doses. Wondering if the "tweaks" they made in Abilify to launch Rexulti are significant enough to abate the above problems I had. I never got above 2.5 mgs of Abilify.
Thanks...I know it's a new med so there's not a lot known.
