OK. So, out of curiosity, I googled Seconal and...a goodrx link popped up. As in...for slightly under 1,000 (w/ an Rx), you can have 30 capsules of Seconal in the US.
Somebody posted something about Meprobamate a while back. So, again, out of curiosity, I googled it. Not nearly as expensive as Seconal, but..wow. Somebody's taking it, clearly.
Other barbiturates came up, too (weird). Butisol...the one in headache tablets. Expensive, but not Seconal-level expensive.
Which raises the question...who's taking these retro remedies? And...who's prescribing them?
Oh, and...1 additional question...who does pricing on these bad boys? The meprobamate was reasonable enough, but Seconal was Abilify-level expensive and the Butisol was a couple hundred $$$.
Benzedrine is back, too...as Evekeo, which is a couple hundred $$$ per month, too (and still indicated for "exogenous obesity," btw).
Is this progress, or has psychiatry run out of ideas?
