I restarted prazosin - I am feeling much better.

Hi All.

I restarted prazosin. I am feeling much better. We will see how long it lasts. I have a good feeling about this one.

I had deteriorated over the course of a month after stopping prazosin treatment. Before discontinuing it, I was taking 30 mg/day. That is a rather high dosage, but some researchers have used 40 mg/day and higher. It was making me feel better, but not that much. Strangely, I could not tolerate my usual dosage of desipramine while taking prazosin. My motivation for stopping prazosin was to recover my sex drive, which it can extinguish almost entirely. Funny thing. I came close to remission for a few days after discontinuation. That was quite a pleasant surprise. I was able to bring my desipramine dosage up to 300 mg/day without feeling weird. 300 mg/day is the magic number for me. Anyway, upon resarting prazosin, I decided to go on a dosage-finding mission instead to going right to 30 mg/day. I was following a hunch that I might do better at a much lower dosage. 6 mg/day (2 mg x 3) seems perfect. I am feeling significantly better again, and I am able to maintain desipramine at 300 mg/day.

A few prayers wouldn't hurt. Thank you.

:-)
