Hi John,

Yes, I do have past experience with Nardil, having taken the medication from late 2005 well into 2006 for what at the time was probably some sort of anergic depression involving very low energy, slow thinking, and excessive sleep. Nardil definitely helped me some at 75 mg, but for me, after the medication's initial effects faded, I didn't notice any response whatsoever. I tried a few different versions of Nardil and tried putting the contents of my Nardil tablets into enteric capsules, but ultimately, the medication didn't help me in the long run.

There is, of course, a lot of variability in how people respond to Nardil, as there is with most if not all psychiatric medications. My response pattern may or may not be very typical, but there are people who've reported taking Nardil for years, or even decades, with good results, especially as far as effectiveness is concerned. Some patients reported noticing changes in the effectiveness and/or the tolerability of Nardil after Pfizer changed the medication's formulation in 2003, but some patients didn't seem to notice a difference. So, there's a chance that you might benefit from Nardil, especially given that you experience atypical depression and social anxiety. I'd definitely give the medication a chance and talk to your doctor about trying 75 mg or 90 mg if you don't notice significant improvement over the next several weeks on 60 mg. Or in other words, I think that it would make sense to just take Nardil in its regular tablet form first and see how you respond to it before looking at ways that might possibly improve the way that the medication is delivered into your body.

And of course, I'd advise getting the go-ahead from your doctor before doing anything different with your Nardil than what you've been doing. I tend to think that taking Nardil rectally might possibly affect you as adversely as taking the medication sublingually did for the person who tried that, but if you're really interested in the rectal delivery method, I'd talk to your doctor about that, as Linkadge advised. And I'd also see how the Nardil tablets affect you first over a longer period of time before considering alternative ways of delivering the medication into your body.

I wish you luck in getting a good response from Nardil.
