I want to increase my quetiapine. I'm on 250mg with an MAOI and other stuff. So I'm taking it as an Augmenter. Diagnosis is Major depression (uni-polar)/TRD. Social phobia too.
I'm mainly after anecdotes tho any comments are good.
I have a friend with bipolar. Daily, he takes 600-800mg slow-release quetiapine (not sure if anything else, except pot).
Now for me. Could such higher doses benefit me? I do find the occasional extra, taken during the day easily tolerable, but thats just 150mg in the morning. Rest at bedtime with amitriptyline which, if i do try larger doses of quetiapine my doc might lower my amitriptyline to 100mg. He is very cautious when is comes to a toxic hammering of contraindications which metabolize via the urinary tract as my diabetes (type 1) puts its own batter-ram to that particular area. Still, I do take a collection of supplement which gently support the urinary tract, antioxidants and chelating minerals..
So there you go. what should i expect doubling to 500mg slow-release or even higher? I'm aware quetiapine can work wonders for people with uni-polar/TRD even on its own.
What side effects should i expect and will i still have to wait long? Or will it need to build its stronger effect.
SIDE EFFECTS. I know there must be some. Short term I'm not too bothered about. They usually fade away. Its the long term effect I'm worried about. just a little. Only coz its an anti-psychotic and I know many anti-psychotics develop serious long term side effects. What are my chances?
As I said I take it for uni-polar but comments from uni-polar or bi-polar sufferers are all welcome, so are Schizoid/schizophrenia sufferers too.
Just wanting a head start when I delve into this.
