Nortriptyline and desipramine do not affect me. Desipramine produced some sexual side effects during the first 1 - 2 weeks. These disappeared rather quickly and were replaced by an enhancement of performance - probably helped by the partial antidepressant I began to receive. This might be the result of desipramine being so strongly noradrenergic - more so than nortriptyline. Nortriptyline did not produce a worsening at any time.

Drugs are different. People are different. You might not duplicate my experiences with these same two drugs.

Trimipramine (Surmontil) is worth looking into. It is an oddball TCA that doesn't inhibit the reuptake of serotonin or norepinephrine.

Have you ever tried Luvox (fluvoxamine)? It is an SSRI/sigma agonist. It is suppose to be good for psychotic depression. Luvox is less apt to produce sexual side effects than the other SSRIs.
