The more severe your problems, the more likely meds are to do something above and beyond placebo. Isn't that interesting? Severe depression, for instance, often responds well to carefully selected AD(s); moderate depression, not so much.
I'm now thankful for Wellbutrin. I mean, I never thought I'd be happy about an AD, but...yeah...its lifted the worst of this depression w/o much in the way of side effects, so I'm thankful. I shudder to think what peoplle went through before newer antidepressants, newer antipsychotics, cleaned up anticonvulsants, etc.
Meds aren't perfect, of course. I do Orthomolecular w/ mine, and that seems to help (I think). Other people do other kinds of supplementation, light therapy, talk therapy, self-help, writing, etc. On and on it goes.
