This is probably only tangentially related, but I participated in a depression/anxiety/codependency support group for much of the 1990s. Most of us were on and off various medications and had trouble maintaining stable relationships. There is no question that it was of great benefit to have a group of similar (or somewhat similar) people (both men and women) struggling with some of the long-term mental health challenges that I am still struggling with. It was also useful to practice dealing with conflict in the group, and to have a therapist there to meditate during the challenging times.
