Apparantly, this substance acts as a combination serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SRI) and phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4) inhibitor. Of course, the extract might do other things as well.
As an SRI, it is probably a good idea to take precautions not to precipitate serotonin syndrome with sceletium.
