and yep, its a weight loss drug. some might think my approach to my treatment is a bit different. but Belviq is an agonist at the 5ht2c receptor. a receptor that plays a major role in modulating dopamine release. and i believe Cyproheptadine helped me so much in the past with its antagonism/inverse agonism on the 2c receptor. but it stopped working. so im trying the opposite approach with Belviq, by desensitizing these receptors, i think it might make me worse at first, but as the receptors lose responsiveness, hopefully i will get a therapeutic effect. SSRI's are thought to work in part by desensitizing the 2c receptor, but ive not responded one bit to them. theyve been like a sugar pill.
so yeah, i figured id post this because it feels like an accomplishment to finally be prescribed Belviq. im not at all overweight. but im going to cross my fingers and hope it helps my mood.
