That's a difficult question to answer. Even if HNK (hydroxynorketamine) does not act directly on DA neurons, it may lead to an increase in DA activity secondarily downstream. I don't really know.

Apparently, HNK is not yet in clinical trials. One would have to rely on animal data indicating antidepressant activity.
Check out the action of HNK to reduce D-serine in degenerative disorders like Alzheimers and Parkinsons.
