Hi . I've recently switched from amitriptyline 100mg at night to trimipramine 200mg at night. Much better response! Having a few vivid dreams n nightmares but I expected that with trimipramine as I've had it before. But no worse than from amitriptyline anyway. Now I'm on no SSRIs at all and feel a nudge better. What does that tell you! ?
I'm still gonna try lithium in about 2 months time.
Anyway. Does anyone know of any articles/abstracts (with references) that shows MAOIs can be switched quickly or even tapered together? In particular isocarboxazid (Marplan) to tranylcypramine (Parnate)? (Sorry I hate brand names)
My doc said we would need 7 to 10 days off isocarboxazid before the switch. Recently I read on here about switching from phenelzine to isocarboxazid whilst tapering together! I stopped phenelzine dead and then onto isocarboxazid after 3 days. Only because the pharmacy was out of stock or it would have been strait away. My decision NOT my docs.
So, can anyone help show what as safe despite what the (outdated?) text books say?
