Christ_empowered,
I didn't do well on Remeron. I had quite a bit of rage and aggression from taking a single dose of it, but it doesn't seem that most people who've taken the medication respond to it in the way that I did. So, Remeron might be worth trying, but I think that it would be best to proceed with caution with the medication, because you never really know how it (or any substance you put into your body, for that matter) might affect you.
As far as antidepressant "poop out" is concerned, I too would say that the "poop out" phenomenon is something that I've heard of happening more often with SSRIs than with the TCAs or MAOIs. Does that mean that it does occur more commonly with SSRIs? I would say maybe, but not necessarily. Taking antidepressants has become a lot more common since Prozac was introduced than it was when just the TCAs and MAOIs were around, and with more people taking antidepressants these days, the more we're going to hear about various types of phenomena associated with them, including the "poop out" phenomenon. Also, Internet forums like this one obviously didn't exist before Prozac was introduced, so the opportunities for patients with taking psychiatric drugs to communicate with one another about the various responses that they have to medications were limited compared with how they are today. In my estimation, it might be the case that patients taking the TCAs and MAOIs prior to Prozac experienced "poop out" at the same rate as patients who take SSRIs today, but when it happened in the past, patients only told their doctors, who likely didn't hear of it happening to other patients unless they had large caseloads. So, maybe the "poop out" phenomenon did occur with TCAs and MAOIs before Prozac was introduced but just went unnoticed, or maybe you are onto something about the phenomenon occurring more frequently with the SSRIs. Who knows? I don't think that this has been studied, although I could be wrong.
