Don't ignore the possibility that bipolar disorder is comorbid with ADD and anxiety disorders. Such combinations can be difficult to parse and often fool diagnosticians. You might have to treat multiple conditions with multiple drugs. It might also be necessary to combine an antidepressant along with an anti-manic or mood-stabilizer for chronic (as opposed to episodic) bipolar depression.
