Considering that the randomized controlled trials have only demonstrated efficacy for minocycline in the add-on treatment of negative symptoms in schizophrenia for patients whose illness came on recently, it seems to me that the findings technically don't say anything about whether or not patients with longer-standing forms of schizophrenia might benefit. Even though I would guess that patients who've had schizophrenia for a long time wouldn't differ significantly in their responses to minocycline compared to patients with recent-onset schizophrenia, it is possible that those who've had it for longer might not respond as well. So in other words, I can't say with complete certainty that the findings would extend to individuals who've had schizophrenia for a long time, but I think that there is definitely some reason to think that minocycline could potentially be promising as a treatment for the treatment of schizophrenia, particularly the "negative symptoms."
