Hello, I've been taking risperidone 3mg for many years and since start of this year 6mg divided in two doses. We did a blood test in _September_ but didn't read/notice the results until last Friday when we saw a pdoc. It said my eosinophil count is 38.9%, absolute eosinophil count is 7.08 x 10^3/uL, and hemoglobin 15.6%.
Family doctor suggested starting Diethylcarbamazine 100mg three times daily. We did a blood test the next morning after one dose, and the eosinophil count was 24%, esr first hour 15mm, absolute eosinophil 3200 per cmm, and hemoglobin 15.0 Gm%.
So that had me very scared. Ultrasound / sonography of whole abdomen came back normal for all organs, and chest/lung digital x-ray came back normal.
I also got high cholersterol for which a medicine doctor prescribed a statin and who told me the eosinophil problem could be allergy reaction or something.
Family doctor said the reaction might be due to risperidone which I have not been taking since past four days, but I don't know what to do as pdoc and my mother are pressuring me to start it again as it is the thing which works well for physical aggression and rage. But I'm very scared that if the eosinophil might be due to risp, then I may fall sick.
I read that all antipsychotics (I get constipation and various side effects from Olanzapine, Quetiapine, Amisulride so can't take those, anyway) and anticonvulsants can cause blood dyscrasias. Is there a medication which is safe to take that helps with rage (I was thinking low dose topiramate, but gosh, what if that drug is dangerous too?) or is it safe to take risperidone with this situation.
I really don't want to damage my organs. Any advice? Please advise, thanks.
