My doc wanted me to try Depakote 500 ER, even though I told her I tried it years ago and it made me sick to my stomach and hyper as hell (I removed all the wallpaper in my large master bathroom from being hyped up on Depakote ER and didn't sleep for 2 days - I wasn't like that before I took the Depakote!). My pharmacist said nauseous and insomnia were big with Depakote. So I know I'm not imagining the hyperness Depakote brings to me.
I told her I would prefer to stick with the Depakote Sprinkles at 375mg because it helped my neuropathy and didn't make me nauseous. I just needed help with sleep.
She said I probably needed to double the Depakote ER (to 1,000 which would probably land me in the ER because it tends to make me suicidal at higher doses). This makes no sense to me. On 500mg Depakote ER I couldn't walk without feeling dizzy like I was going to faint or throw up.
I realize it's a sub therapeutic dose, but the 375mg works great. I just need sleep. She really doesn't believe me and is basically pissed that my regular doc put me on Elavil for neuropathy and sent me into a hyper mess that she has to clean up. I understand that.
She said to to either pick Trileptal or Geodon to go with the 375mg Depakote. I guess since the Trileptal knocks me out I picked it along with Depakote. Geodon doesn't always help with sleep.
I'm no longer taking the Elavil.
I just wonder if I will get depressed without my Geodon?
Also, I know I'm not that nuts. I knew when I took the Depakote Sprinkles it really helped not only my neuropathy but my mood.
I'm not sure why I have the opposite reactions to a lot of meds and I think I'm a slow metabolizer anyway.
I'm sure I will feel stable, I'm not worried about that.
I hope I made the right decision. Maybe it's not good to be on Geodon for years on end. And I like the Depakote Sprinkles. And I know even 300mg of Trileptal will knock me out. Trust me after the last several days I look forward to sleeping.
Can you really not take 375mg Depakote, 60mg Geodon and 300mg Trileptal? If I go up higher on Trileptal I swell up and if I go up to 120mg Geodon I can't sleep. Geez.
Am I really that odd that I can't tolerate high doses, nausea and insomnia?
