Do u think 5HT directly effects emotions

Posted by Hello123 on September 12, 2014, at 16:41:12

I've read many articles on Pubmed about how 5HT aka serotonin indirectly effects the release of other neurotransmitters and hormones. such as. when Serotonin stimulates the 5htc receptor, dopamine release is inhibited. and many people report feeling less emotional a out things when SSRI's increase their Serotonin levels. and i know from experience with meds that increase the levels of neurotransmitters that SSRI's indirectly decrease(like Aderall increasing Dopamine) that these meds make yiu feel more emotional about life.

so i get the idea that Serotonins main role is to modulate the increase/decrease of other neurotransmitters. and that it dossnt directly effect emotions by stimulating Serotonin receptors.

what do others think?
