Shutting down insulin/leptin improves mood?

Posted by LostBoyinNC45 on July 11, 2014, at 23:31:35

What do you think about the idea? Eating a high protein diet, say 120 grams of "high biological value" lean protein, cutting out simple sugars almost entirely, the remaining calories coming from low glycemic carbs and healthy fats.

Eating a high protein/low sugar diet like this shuts down excess insulin release and leptin and suppresses appetite.

Anybody know the developing science surrounding a diet like this, as it relates to mood and anxiety? Im not talking about an extremist diet like the Atkins diet or even the zone diet. Just a healthy diet that is high in protein, eliminate simple sugars except for some fruit daily.

At the minimum, this sort of diet would probably help control or reduce psychiatry drug induced obesity, and psychiatry drug induced metabolic syndrom X.
